Transducers 2021 Transforms Virtual-Conference Constraints into Notable Opportunities
For a technical community where defects inspire innovations, expect no less from the program design! This year's conference and overall program are tailored to leverage the opportunity of a virtual meeting, with a focus on dialog and global access.

Plenary Events, not Lectures (show) Plenary Events, not Lectures (hide)
Distinguished plenary guests will engage in live dialog with each other, while preparing the audience in advance with their pre-recorded talks. The virtual conference format offers a unique opportunity to bring multiple global leaders together simultaneously, so the audience can hear them exchange ideas on how future transducers research can address global challenges. Audience members can propose questions in advance of the event, and vote on the most urgent topics to be addressed in the discussions.

A "Flipped Conference" approach focuses on dialog/question-and-answer during the live programming times. Pre-recorded talks are available for viewing between events, as well as during the week before and three weeks after the conference.

Global Access Scheduling (show) Global Access Scheduling (hide)
Events are scheduled in a rotating sequence that allows global participants to attend the majority of events during local waking hours. The schedule can be visualized as the ground-track for a satellite on a 48-hour orbit, projecting a sequence of conference events that occur during business hours across first the Atlantic Ocean (America-East and Europe business hours), then the Indian Ocean (Europe and Asia business hours), and finally the Pacific Ocean (Asia and America-West).

The short course fees are included in the registration. The conference mission to educate our community and share information is served through our short courses. This enabled through the generous donation of time from lecturers and support from conference sponsors.

High-impact work from the Transducers community published in peer-reviewed journals will be shared through pre-recorded oral talks followed by synchronous discussion/question-and-answer sessions. With no new conference paper required, this provides an inclusive forum for authors to disseminate recent results of their published work.

This is an improvement on the "Late News" tradition, where authors can present without writing a conference paper, so that they can share and discuss their most recent results while reserving the opportunity to publish in a peer-reviewed journal at a later date.

This new industry event shares a series of start-up stories to inspire and educate the Transducers community.

Industry and Student Joint Event (show) Industry and Student Joint Event (hide)
For the first time ever at a Transducers conference, the international Student Committee teamed with the Industry Events Committee to create a special event where a panel of emerging leaders offers advice and insight to students and early-career professionals.
